'Watching' documentary on film opening

Explain why a good beginning must make the audience feel that it doesn't know nearly enough yet, and at the same time make sure that it doesn't know too little?
Establishing the character on how or what to take seriously, to bring the audience in.

What is meant by "a favourite trick of film noir"? what is the trick?
to quickly zoom into the shoe on the breaks to add effect of fast movement enough its actually slow.

How does the opening to the film the shining create suspense?
classic opening: established shoots - basic and ordered showing clearly the differences between environments.
leading the audience smoothly through the storyline, and didn't add dialogue but still effective.
